What to expect when you’re expecting… a Newborn session

Congratulations to you on the pending arrival of the newest member of your family!

This time is so precious, you only get a certain amount of time with your newborn before they grow and have their first steps, first day at Kindy, and their first grazed knee. So many firsts to look forward too, but you want to take in this moment and soak up every breath and gassy smile. You know you are going to want to capture so much of this and hang some beautiful images of your precious little one on your living room wall to show off your best creation. Whether this is your first or your 5th, each of your little tots are the most beautiful things to you and you want to keep them all at that special newborn stage. what better way than to capture them in beautifully styled photographs that will last a lifetime!

Let me walk you through how booking works. Step One: The more notice, the better! Once you know you want to get some beautiful photos of your little one, whether its a lifestyle shoot or a full family and Newborn session, you should contact me and let me know your due date. It is best to give me as much notice as possible so you don’t miss out! Your baby will need to be under 12 days old for a newborn session, as they are most squishy and sleepy at this stage which makes for the most gorgeous snuggly images. I take a 25% non-refundable deposit to book you in. I will keep some days within the two weeks on either side of your due date free for your session. I will do my absolute best to make sure you get a time and date that suits you best!

Step Two: Now we wait! While we wait for your new arrival, we can discuss any particular session requests you would like. This includes colours, florals and props that make it authentic for you. Step Three: Welcoming your little bundle! This time will be all a bit hectic so no need to rush. Just when you get time, flick me a message to let me know your baby has arrived. Then when you are all settled, we can arrange a time for your newborn session. Just keep in mind that it is best to capture your baby within their first 12 days. We can make a time that suits you, it is best to come into the studio when bubs is due for a feed and have a sleep so they are nice and sleepy for their photos. You will have plenty of time to feed bubs when you arrive.

Step Four: Babies time to shine! When you arrive, feel free to set up your belongings and get comfy on the couch, give bubs a feed and then you can sit back and relax. I will do most of the work, however, I am may ask you or your partner to help with some of the poses. During your session, I will spend time with your baby allowing them to get used to me. I will work around what bubs needs throughout the session, such as feeds and nappy changes.

Extra notes: Your session should take up to 2 hours. Most of the session will be spent settling and feeding bubs. I will make sure your precious little one is nice and warm with heaters and wraps. All of the materials are cleaned and sterile between each session, so no need to worry about germs.

Step Five: Your photos! Within the first week, you will receive a few preview photos, these will not be for printing but you can share them with your friends and family and on social media. Then from 7-14 days, you will get your full online gallery of images! I will offer a good printing deal and the opportunity to purchase a keeps sake box full of your favourite images. See below.

I can’t wait to meet you and your new bundle of joy!
